Foynes Public Baths

The form of the structure serves two functions for the site. The structure serves as a physical link to the town, it brings people along the site and allows for the site to be entered at certain intervals, by also serving as a walkway. The other function is to give the site definition. The form of the building gives the northern facing hillside its edge and the elements of the baths give the shoreline its form.
The building itself appears as one monolithic structure from the outside but all the spaces are contained underneath. The structure acts as a shelter for these spaces, the spaces are divided underneath by voids and different elements. The different pools form the edge along the shore. Some of the pools only appear in low tide when the baths would be at its most used while the other pools are above the level of high tide.
