Limerick City Library

The library consists of two linear buildings that are linked together on the ground floor that also creates an open public plaza on the 1st floor. Triple height light wells bring natural light to the ground floor library space, and also provide a visual interaction between spaces.
Classrooms and reading spaces are divided by glass panes to allow for visual interaction between everyone in the library. This visual link from above and below encourages movement throughout the library, movement that creates a more vibrant environment within the library.
The spaces in the library are divided in such a way that the noisier activities are kept in the courthouse wing and the private spaces in the riverside wing.

In February 2009, SAUL 3rd year students presented their Limerick City Library Projects to the public in Limericks's current public library. These exhibition boards can be viewed here.
